Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

This 8 week mindfulness based stress reduction course teaches participants to manage and respond to difficult feelings, emotions and body sensations. It increases awareness of thoughts and our impulses to act through developing awareness and breaking the doing mode pattern we find yourself caught in.  The course focuses on both formal and informal mindfulness practices to help participants with building positive health behaviours and psychological and emotional resilience.

What to expect 

  • 8 weekly sessions of 2 hours 15 mins.
  • There are up to 15 people on each course.
  • There will be seated, lying and movement practices. You may want to bring extra layers to keep you warm or a cushion for extra support.
  • One of the course facilitators will contact you before the course to discuss the course in further detail (you are not able to join the course if you do not attend this)
  • Home practice of meditations is required as part of the course. This is up to 45 mins a day (plus short exercises)
  • The course is designed to be enjoyable but can evoke some difficult feelings at times, this is part of the learning process, and you are able to discuss these with the facilitators if you wish
  • You will be given handouts and information on how to access recordings of the practices to support you throughout the week in your own practice
